Chicago Trip - part 3 (the snow edition)

Seriously?  Like I said, I know it snows in April, but goodness gracious. This was the view from our room on the 28th floor. I am so glad I brought my huge winter coat. A few years ago, while in Chicago for a few days in late April, I only brought my leather jacket. BIG MISTAKE. From now on, I will bring my winter coat to Chicago at least until late May. You know - just to be sure.
Well,, this pretty much made my decision to stay in for the day. Lucky for me, there were a few shops in the lower level of the AON building to which we were connected. Oh, and a few of my fave food places. The 'bucks (Starbucks) of course and Au bon pain. While Ken headed to his conference, I had my breakfast sandwich and a Venti Vanilla Chai Latte. Delish!

Oh, the sights I saw in this Starbucks. This wasn't your normal sit back and chill Starbucks.  If you like people watching - and I do - this place would be perfect for you. My plan was to do some reading. Yeah, that did NOT happen! There was way too much going on. I love Chicago for the style most of the people have. I saw some of the cutest outfits and of course bags and totes  while in this little Starbucks. There were also a few DON'T's. The snow did not stop the sandals from coming out. My hope is that they had boots on outside and decided to change into sandals when they got inside.
Ken met me for lunch and we walked (inside) and found the Metra Sattion which had even more restaurants and a few cute little shops. My favorite was CityScene Florist shop. So pretty and lifted my little heart.

I even purchased one of the fuchsia orchids. I had been on  the search for one for ages for our hallway table, but couldn't find the perfect color. I know - I wasn't supposed to be allowed another orchid in our home (LOL). I did get the side eye, but what can I say? I have been searching - right?  Oh, I also purchased a cute little clear/silver vase for $2.49. Yes, $2.49. It was 75% off and a deal I couldn't pass up.

Don't miss part 4 - Chicago Trip (the dinner cruise edition).....
