The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

So, yesterday Prince William and Kate Middleton were married. A friend of mine couldn't figure out what all the hoopla was about. She thought it a bit weird that people reacted the way they did given the fact that the majority of people didn't even know the couple. I tried to explain it to her from my point of view. Actually, there are a few reasons I find it intriguing:

• It's a pretty rare occasion when you get to see such a happy occasion televised these days. There is so much violence and bad weather related news shared, why not share something positive. What is more positive than a wedding?
• I am a bit of a sucker for all things traditional. This is full of all things traditional. From the processional to the recessional.
• I LOVE weddings. I am a bit surprised that it took so long for me to actually get into the Royal Wedding. In fact, I only started getting interested the day before the wedding. Strange - huh?
• I have a fascination with Europe. Something about Europe  just seems so sophisticated.  
• Hats - I just wanted to see the beautiful and sometimes strange hats the ladies would wear. Case in point was Princess Beatrice's hat.
