Summer bulbs

When we moved into our home last year, I planted spring bulbs. I also planted the rest of them a few weeks ago. A few of them are sprouting, but not nearly the amount I planted. One of my go-to green thumb friends told me that I may not get many to come up the first year, but next year should be good. In the meantime, I'll probably get some day lilies from Lowe's or Home Depot - just so I can have some color in our yard. We had those at our last home and they we so pretty.  Every year they get bigger and better.  Right now, I am planting summer bulbs. One of my favorites are the Ranunculus bulbs.  I just planted them in pots as they can be planted from late March to June.  They look VERY strange as you can see from the photo above. In fact, my husband and a friend who saw them thought they we some sort of bug. Ok - do I seem like the type of person who would keep bugs? Don't answer - LOL. Anyway, the bulbs come in a pack and look like little (and I mean little) shriveled up bananas. I did my Internet research and learned that it is best if you soak them in water for 24 hours before planting them. They do plump up a bit. The end result is this beautiful little bunch of flowers.  The photo below is from the package they came in.

I'll be sure to post a picture of mine when (and if) they come up in the summer.

Happy planting!
