I've had a mini obsession with sunflowers this summer. Almost as bad as my orchid obsession....almost.
I think it all started (this summer anyway) with the lone sunflower we found growing in the empty lot beside our home. There has always been an assortment of wild flowers growing there. Well, growing until the developer comes and mows them down. We were surprised to see a lone sunflower growing over there a few months ago! I loved looking out my kitchen banquet window and seeing "Sunny" grow. She held strong - as most sunflowers do- thru the drought we had this summer. ....And then came a storm. She didn't make it. Thinking back, I wish I had taken a picture. Maybe she'll be back next year (unless someone buys the lot before then).
Anyway, please enjoy these Sunflower photos from Pinterest. Do you like sunflowers? What is your favorite flower?
Sunflowers used to be my favorite flower ever...I love seeing them in the summer, there is just something so cheerful about them :)
ReplyDeleteFunny thing is, I'm from Kansas...the Sunflower state, and I never see many sunflowers. Maybe I'm just not looking for them, and simply miss them, or maybe my area in particular just doesn't have them. But I remember driving by a field of them one time, and and being in awe of how beautiful they were. It made me appreciate Kansas a little (just a little) more. :D
ReplyDeleteI love sunflowers in the summer. I usually buy a bundle for $10 from a local farmers market. So, so pretty and cheery. Hope you had a nice weekend xo
