Agony and Ecstasy......................................

I have been on a kick to get into shape. No, really this time. More for the health benefits than anything. Don't get me wrong - I'd love to have a killer body, but at this point the health benefits are outweighing that.

I have been trying to eat better - less meat, bread, processed foods and cheese. I eat many more organic foods and raw veggies now.

I have also decided to kick my workout up some notches. Sure, I made it to the gym with my husband four times a week. My workout consisted of the treadmill for 40 minutes and then I would sit and wait for him to finish. My next step was to add some arm exercises to the mix. I moved myself off the chairs to the arm machines. I must say I have had several sore arm mornings since doing this.
I also thought my legs were in pretty good shape. Until we met Morris Virgil.

Ken won a 30 minute free personal training session with Morris Virgil of V-Fit in Brownsburg, Indiana.  He received a body fat score along with an actual 15-20 training session on the machines. The training session prompted a small conversation about what I do. That's when I met Mr. Virgil. He promised to motivate me. So, we decide that we will take at least one class. The next day. The Wipe Out Class. Really - are we insane? Yep, just a little.

The next day comes and off to the class we go. Outside 90 degree weather - unfit me. When he said Wipe Out that is EXACTLY what he meant. Most classes start with a warm up. I am not sure what this was. We immediately started in high gear. Ken, me and about 5 twenty somethings. I have NEVER had my thighs burn the way they did during this workout. Squats, high kicks, butt kicks, down, up.......... So much movement. Where is my trusty treadmill? I lasted maybe 20 minutes. Twenty minutes until I felt SICK. You know Biggest Loser when they first come to the ranch sick.

The next morning, we remark how we must not have been that out of shape because we weren't that sore the next morning. Skip ahead 10 hours  to me on the floor because my thighs and my abs ACHE. ACHE. ACHE.

It's almost three days later and I still feel the burn. Will I go back? Probably not to that class right away, but we will see Mr. Virgil again. He is FULL of useful information on diet and exercise.

If you are in the Indy area, check out his website here for info on classes and personal training sessions.

Stay tuned here to see my fitness progress. I hope you will share your own as well.
What keeps you motivated, do you struggle with staying committed to a program?
Do tell!
