Everyone knows running a home takes a lot of work. I can not even imagine if I had kids to add to the mix. Running a successful home for me means using organizing tools. I change my tools every so often based on what I find or hear about on line. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. The key is finding something that works for you.
Yesterday, while we were grocery shopping, I told my husband that I needed a personal assistant. You know - they could go to the grocery, pay our bills, arrange for house visits (handymen), make medical/dental/vision appointments. Let's just say that I got the look - lol.
KITCHEN/HOUSEHOLD ITEMS:
GARDENING:
I made sure to plant different types of perennials in our garden. I love the look of having color throughout the year. I am not huge on planting every year. So, I plant bulbs or plants that will come back year after year.
There is no way I would remember all of the plants/bulbs that I planted without my trusty binder. I have a spreadsheet where you can list the name, watering specifics, time of year, etc. I list exactly where in the garden (s) the plant is. There is also a section to place a photo of the plant. I use that space to attach the plant cards that come when you buy your plants. It lists every thing you need to know about the specific plant.
It helps if you can purchase the page protectors for your sheets. Then, you can take your binder outside with you and not worry about it getting all grimy.
RECIPES:
Again, I use my trusty binders. I used to try to write everything down on those little recipe cards. Yeah, that didn't last. So, when I find a recipe I really like on line, I print it and add it to my binder.
I use the tab inserts to separate the categories. Again, I use the sheet protectors to keep the recipes food free.
APPOINTMENTS/PARTIES/ETC.
These are kept on my iPhone calendar. Luckily, I am able to sync my work and home calendars. I can be just about anywhere and access my calendar to see what is coming up for the week.
I also have several different apps on my phone that I use. I just haven't found one that I truly love.
Do you have any organizing tips you'd like to share?
