High Tea 2013
I am still on a high from High Tea 2013. We had such a blast! This years High Tea was held at Serenity in Zionsville, Indiana. Zionsville is a small town that promotes itself around it's village-styled downtown area. There are many unique stores and restaurants - most on the brick lined Main Street. Such a great place.
The weather was simply gorgeous. I am so grateful for the beautiful weather because today, they are predicting 8-12 inches of snow!
Serenity is located in one of the first homes built in Zionsville. The home was built in 1868 and has been restored beautifully. The outside has been painted the original color. The staff was wonderful. From the moment I arrived, they made us all feel welcome. I must say this is probably THE best team we have ever had serve us for High Tea. I love that the tables were set with an eclectic mix of table settings. Each lady had a different tea set. My friend, J, had the prettiest one. Lined in gold with gorgeous hand painted flowers on the outside. Simply beautiful. I just couldn't get over how beautiful this cup was. Remember this for later in this post.
All of the girls arrived by 2:30ish and the party started. It was so great to catch up with old friends and to meet a new friend as well.
The service started with a small mixed greens salad served with walnuts and strawberries with a wonderful balsamic dressing. Our first tea was Cherry Almond. Omgoodness, this was simply divine! All of the teas were so good, there was no need to add sugar or honey. Pomegranate sparklers were given to each of us to cleanse the palate between teas.
Next out were the tiers of scones, finger sandwiches and assorted pastries (including chocolate covered strawberries). There was a traditional cucumber sandwich, a tomato sandwich and a chicken salad served on the most wonderful blueberry bread. I am not even kidding when I say I could have eaten a whole tray of these. The blueberry/chicken salad was definitely my favorite.
Our next tea was Elderberry, Rose hips and ........(I can't remember - darn, MML). It was obviously had a floral flavor and was just as good as the first.
The desserts were also wonderful. The scones were crunchy on the outside and soft inside. Just like any good scone should be. My fave was the lemon squares - so, good. Just enough tartness and the crust was flaky and buttery.
The final tea - and a group favorite was the Chocolate Hazelnut. It was like Nutella in liquid form. HEAVEN. This will definitely be added to my tea shelf.
The ladies all chatted and just caught up on every thing. I mean EVERYTHING - it was great!
The time arrived for the tea cup exchange. The idea is everyone who wishes to participate, brings a wrapped tea cup. Each person gets one and we open them one by one to see everyone's cup. The teacups get more and more pretty every year!
Remember, how I raved about the gold lined cup earlier. Well, I received a similar gold tipped cup from my friend, J! She said she was thinking how wonderful it would be if I received her cup because of how much I loved the one she was using. The teacup exchange is completely random. Wasn't this amazing! I drank tea from my cup as soon as I got home!
I passed out the goody bags filled with Clenapure soaps, nail polish, tea bag, lipstick cases and a special note from me to each of my guests.
The final part of the day was the drawing. The first gift was a $20 gift card from Serenity. My other friend, J, won that. The second was a gift set of Clenapure natural products which was won by yet another friend, J.
After our group photo session, everyone headed out. Such a great, great time!
