Chicago Trip - part 1

Chicago is my kind of town. I love the city for it's diversity, fashion, culture and so much more. Every year, my husband and I take a trip or two there. We always make it to Michigan Avenue. In fact, more often than not we find a hotel on Michigan Avenue and stay there. It's close to everything we want to get it. This was one of those or not times. More on that later. So, we head up on Sunday and of course saw the windmills that fascinate us so much on the way. Have you seen them? They are massive - tall and lots of them! I have a friend who is learning photography and she went up there just to take some shots of them. Evidently, there is a self guided tour of some sort.

My husband decided we should stop by Fair Oaks Dairy for a milkshake. I'm not a big milkshake fan, but what the heck - let's go check it out. This place was packed.

The store had every thing COW themed you can imagine. Imagine Cracker Barrel Cow edition.

You are probably wondering when I am getting to the chic part of Chicago - right? LOL Well, this was quite fun and delicious!  They have a birthing farm in addition to the shop and restaurant.  The restaurant served made to order sandwiches with what else - Fair Oaks Dairy cheese. The also had samples of the cheese curds. The veggie was very good. We opted for ice cream. I had the mint chocolate chip (or "the green" as my 3 year old niece likes to call it) and the butter pecan. OMgoodness..................................... Heaven. Ken just had the "green".

Amongst all of the cow items, they some beautiful granite slabs with decorative handles for serving cheese, etc.  We decided on the way back home to stop and get one. Here's the one we picked out. Whatcha think?

I can not wait to serve cheese and grapes on this. It is HEAVY - weighing roughly 20-30 pounds. Evidently, this little old lady makes them and carries all of them in.

Stay tuned to Chicago Part 2..........................
