Valentine's Day goodies

I have fond memories of my dad giving us Valentine's Day cards and a box of Turtle's - our favorites.
He gave these to us every year until he passed away. I still miss him.

Do you have a favorite Valentine's Day memory? I'd love to hear it.....

Here are a few goodies you can share with your favorite person, people or just enjoy yourself.

Heart Shaped Sugars (from Princess Misia Recipes - here)
You will need:200g white sugar
1 tablespoon water
Few drops of red coloring
Silicon heart shaped moulds
Method:
In a small bowl, mix the sugar with water and a few drops of red coloring until evenly colored. Push a small amount of sugar firmly into the heart shaped silicon moulds and level the top with a knife or spoon. You can leave it to stand overnight like I used to do forever (I have been making the sugar cubes with my granddad when he was still alive and Polish supermarkets weren’t the most exciting place) but I did some research online and another option is to put it in the microwave (1 minute on 600W) and let them cool off for 15 minutes and take out afterwards. Repeat until all the sugar is used up. Voila!

Be sure to head over to Marta's blog for more goodness! You can find her here.

Chocolate Covered Strawberries
These super simple goodies are wonderful with homemade whipped cream!
I make these at home for my hubby.

There are recipes for the traditional way to melt the chocolate. However, if you are pressed for time, just grab a container of microwaveable chocolate and dip away.  If possible, purchase strawberries with the stems - it makes it much easier to work with and to eat.  Also, be sure your strawberries are dry before dipping.  Let them cool on wax paper in the fridge and ENJOY!
