Birchbox - Product Reviews

I haven't done a post on my Birchbox goodies in a bit. Instead of recapping each months box, I have opted to review a few items - the good, the bad and the ugly..............................

Just in case you are not familiar -
"Birchbox is the best way to discover new grooming, beauty and lifestyle products. Sample top products from high-end brands, get expert advice, buy new favorites and earn points with every purchase." ~Birchbox website

February 2012's box was not my favorite. There were a few items in the box and only one that I really liked. Trust, this did not make me want to stop my subscription.  The one item I did really like was the colorescience pro® Mineral Bronzer Face Color in Kissed By The Sun.  The samples you receive don't always look like the packaging when you actually purchase. The sample I received was a powder sponge and I actually liked it that way. The color was perfect - just the right shade for me. I used this during my stay in Vegas with the girls. It was perfect for quick touch ups as we made our way down the Strip. Once you open the package, the sponge is white/cream. You release the color by applying it to your face. My sponge is now the color of the product. The bronzer puff goes along way. I mean a really long way. This came in my February package and I was still using it in April. You only need to use a bit to highlight cheekbones, forehead and your nose. A dab will do ya! The product also contains sun protection. Cost? Fifty dollars. May seem like a lot, but it will last a long time.

The March 2012 box was full of goodies I liked which happens with most of my boxes. The first item I'll recap, is the Grandma Stelle's Hand Wash. I have dry skin and this product is made for dry skin. Apparently, Grandma Stelle searched the world over for a product that wouldn't leave her skin dry. Who knew her grandson, the founder of Anthony Logistics for Men, would be the one to create it for her. I absolutely love the scent. I am a sucker for anything with a verbena scent. This one is scented with verbena and thyme. Love - LOVE it!  The product you will purchase is pretty big with a handy pump dispenser - great for bathroom or kitchen. Cost? Twenty bucks.

One of the other products I liked were the Boscia Green Tea Blotting Papers. I mentioned that I have dry skin. I do, however, have an oily t-zone by mid day. So, I use blotting papers. Simply press your blotting paper again the oily area and voila! the oil is gone. Sometimes, I am amazed at how much oil comes off. Now, if I could just get that oil to go to my elbows. Anyway -  I really liked these blotting papers because they are "green". The are made of natural fibers. A pack should last you for quite some time.

April 2012's box: I've only used a few items from this box.  It was a great box, just haven't gotten around to using them all. The one item I have used, is the MicrodermMitt Face Mitt. Normally, the samples in Birchbox are pretty substantial. They are deluxe samples. So, I guess they should be. This item is an exception. I promise you - this mitt is huge.  This seems more like the original product. It may be. If anyone knows, please let me know. This mitt is designed for use once a week for sensitive skin and up to three times a week for all others. Made of all natural floss silk, this mitt does the trick. it gently sloughs off your dead skin cells. You simple wet the mitt and massage in circular motion on your face. Don't rub too hard, just enough to see a bit of pinkiness (is that a word?).  I like too use mine before bed time.  They also offer a body mitt. I can not even imagine how big that is. I may just have to get one.

I hope you have enjoyed the reviews. If you haven't tried Birchbox, I say give it a try. You can cancel at anytime.

Please let me know if you have tried any of the items above. I'd also like to know what items you received in your box and what you thought of them. Do tell!
