Wine Tasting

I've been wanting to have a wine tasting with a few friends for a few months now. We've been to the wineries here in Indy and in Napa Valley, but I wanted to do something at home with friends.

I ran this by my friend, T, and she graciously offered to host it at her house. This was perfect because she has all of the wine glasses, etc AND a gorgeous home. The S's also supplied the wine - love them.

T belongs to a wine club and knows a lot about wine from different regions. They also sent each guest (not couple, but guest)  bottle of their favorite wine from the night.

As we were planning the party, we also knew that we wanted to have a sit down dinner. We opted for Greek foods. We enjoyed grilled chicken, Greek salad, Greek potatoes, spanakopita (spinach pie) and baklava.

The evening started out with wine, cheeses, assorted nuts and Rosemary, Almond Parmesan cookies. The cookies are a savory shortbread. These were a huge hit with the guests. They tiny little discs and the recipe makes 5 dozen small cookies. You can make the dough ahead of time and freeze until you need it.

Next, we moved into our wine tasting. T created these great little tasting note cards for everyone. They lasted all of about 5 minutes - once we all started sampling, we forgot to take notes. All except for my friend, D, who completed hers!

After the sampling of 8 wines - from white - to red - to sparkling, we all sat down for a great dinner. The tables were set beautifully. Great conversation - full of laughs and fun times, moved of course to one of our favorite things to do at the S's home - KARAOKE. They have this awesome system complete with over 5,000 songs and two mics- one which is cordless. Ken had to drag me out of the house - love karaoke.  Anyway, we had such a great time with it that we decided to buy our own. I can not wait to have karaoke on family dinner night!

We just had a super fun evening with some awesome folks. Oh, yeah and some wine!
