Classic White Shirt

In my opinion, nothing beats a classic white shirt. I have been a lover of the white shirt for more years than I care to admit.

The white  shirt gained popularity when  in the 1920's Coco Chanel opted against the corset donning a white shirt instead.

Who doesn't remember seeing photos of Audrey Hepburn from the movie Roman Holiday wearing a white shirt - rolled up sleeves and turned up collar?

Accessorize with classic gold chains and pearls. Or change your white shirt up by adding colorful accessories - animal print scarf anyone?

When shopping for your white shirt, be sure to keep a few things in mind:
  • Fit - Please, please, please be sure to get the right size. As great as the white shirt is - it can look horrible if it's too tight and/or gaps at the buttons.
  • Choose the right white for your complexion.
I have what seems like hundreds of white shirts in my closet. My all time favorites are the ones from Banana Republic. They have the perfect fit - especially if you are a bit chesty.

You should also look for the ones that are no iron. I still run a warm iron over mine - just for that extra crispness.

I hope you enjoy your day.
