We stayed at the W in Times Square. I love the W hotels - very hip! We had a corner room which wasn't very big, but perfect for the time we would be in NYC.
Once we arrived at the hotel, we put our things away and headed out. Times Square is extremely commercialized, but a must see. We later traveled to some of the areas where true New Yorkers live. I didn't take many photos there - trying to fit in with the locals. One of the first things I saw was Magnolia Bakery! Of course, we had to get some. Ken had the Key Lime cheesecake. I had a banana cupcake with maple frosting. So good.......
We then headed over to Rockefeller Center - in search of Dean and DeLuca. The skating rink was FULL of skaters. So fun watching the kids out skating. The other really cool thing I really wanted to see was the Rockefeller Center tree. It had been delivered, and was still in the crate. The crate allowed workers to light the tree. Looking forward to seeing it all lit up.
Just around the corner was a Dean and DeLuca cafe. I love Dean and DeLuca. They have THE best sandwiches. We had coffee, a black and white cookie, popcorn and sandwiches. Ken ate most of my sandwich! I have to admit, it was good.
Can you tell I'm just a bit obsessed with Dean & DeLuca?
A gorgeous shot of Central Park. We had wonderful weather during the time we were there. We still had to wear coats, but it was super sunny!
The food carts were out in full force while we were there. Of course, we had to have a hot dog. I also tried something new - knish. It some sort of friend mashed potato thing. Not a big fan. I love that the carts had roasted chestnuts for sale.
I love the flowers for sale on the streets of New York. Gorgeous........
Of course, we had to have a New York slice. Pepperoni for me - Veggies for the hubs. I am partial to Chicago style pizza, but this was good.
It looks like all we did was eat - huh? Well, that is about right. This photo is the morning we left. We ate at a place called Cosmic Diner. It was in one of the neighborhoods outside of Times Square.
All in all we had a great trip to NYC. Looking forward to going back for longer.
