Neighborly Love

Neighborly Love

I just love our neighborhood - specifically our little cul de sac.  When we were building out home, there were 4 other homes that were being built at the same time. There were also roughly 3 homes who had been there for at least a year.

The existing homeowners were very friendly. We quickly made friends with the other couples who were building as at the same time. We would often see each other as we came over to check out the progress being made.

Fast forward 3 years - We are all still very good friends. This summer has been a whirlwind of activity on the "sac". We've had a couple move into the home just beside us - a beautiful spec home. They had a block party and it has been non-stop since then.  Yesterday, one of our neighbors had an Independence weekend party - the company and food were awesome. You'll remember me talking about the Crab Fest last week. There is also talk of having another block party at the end of August for one of our neighbors birthdays.

Our plan is to have everyone over when we do our annual chili/soup/chowder cook off.  One of our neighbors swears she makes THE best lobster chowder. Can't wait to try it.

We've lived as a married couple in two neighborhoods. The first one - everyone was friendly. The neighborhood was small and so everyone knew everyone else. We just didn't know many peoples  names - let alone spend time with them.

In this neighborhood, everyone helps each other out. From sharing the rental of an aerator to sharing cups of sugar (and plants) - we do it all.

Some are more social than others, but I know everyone genuinely cares for one another and takes pride in their homes. I can't think of a better place to live...........well, maybe the beach (smile).
