Breast Cancer Awareness Month

There are a number of ways that you can help support Breast Cancer Research. The great thing about October is that it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Many companies are offering a percentage of sales of various items as a donation to breast cancer research.

Probably the best thing you can do is to have your mammogram and take your loved ones as well. Remember, not only women can get breast cancer.  Common symptoms for breast cancer in men are:

  • A Lump in the chest area
  • Skin dimpling or puckering
  • Nipple changes
On this post, I'll share some of the beauty products you can purchase that contributes a portion of the sales to research for breast cancer. Later this month, I'll share a few other items.

Bobbi Brown is proud to announce an exclusive set in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Bobbi will be donating $10 of every sale of this set during the month of October to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation®.

I recently came across Amy Cornwell Designs and fell in love with her gorgeous stamped work.  She has all kinds of jewelry  items for sale that celebrate all of life's events. If you are looking for something unique for your self or as a gift, these items are PERFECT.

You can also help make a difference for breast cancer research when you purchase some for her items. Amy's mom is a breast cancer survivor.  A portion of the proceeds from the sale of any of the items above will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization.

Here are a few of my favorites from her line:

Not only does the company give back during October - Breast Cancer Awareness month, but ALL year long! A portion of each month's sales are given to the local church.   I LOVE when companies give back!

Head on over to her website and check out her goodies!

October - Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Today is the first day of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Though my family has not been directly affected by Breast Cancer, I do have many friends who have had mothers, sisters, brothers, fathers, friends, etc. who have. While we should always be aware, this month takes the time to increase our awareness.

The National Breast Cancer Awareness Month website is full of information. Information such as "How to read a Pathology Report", "Breast Diseases", "Find Support", "Patient assistance" and so much more. You can find out more on the website here.

There are also all sorts of ways you can help the effort to find a cure. Many of the brands we love are offering up pink items for sale with a percentage of the proceeds going towards the cause. I've included just a few here.

Eyes, lips, face lip gloss - 100% of the profits will go to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation

Fergie Women's Awareness Shoe
Fergie Footwear by Fergie of The Black Eyed Peas. Her company will donate $20,000 to The Susan G. Komen Foundation.  These are so cute and a LOT cheaper than the Loubi's I featured a few days ago.

shower for the cure
Philosophy  Shower for a Cure.  100% of the proceeds will go to The Women's Cancer Research Fund.

From the Seventeen magazine website: For the first time in the company's history, Philosophy is expanding its charity efforts to make one of its best selling products a champion for positive change. Philosophy is releasing limited edition Hope in a Jar original formula moisturizer packaging to bring heightened awareness to the breast cancer cause.
The one-time-only, exclusive 2 oz will be available for $38 only at ULTA and Philosophy.com. $5 from every purchase will go directly to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

I'll feature many more items this month in addition to listing events supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
