Kitchen Faves

Kitchen Faves

Williams-Sonoma Essential Oils Collection, Meyer Lemon / Crate & Barrel Heritage Hill 64 oz. Glass Jar with Lid / Crate & Barrel "Coffee" Mug / Crate & Barrel Rub Away Bar

I was just unloading the dishwasher at 5AM this morning. Yep, I said 5AM on a Saturday morning. I have actually been up for a while. Here is the thing - I wake up EARLY on Saturdays. Always - never fails. I really like getting up early (when I don't have to go to work).
I tend to get a lot done in the quiet hours.

Coco is usually right under my feet as usual. I am sure she wishes I would go back to bed. Maxi visits occasionally, but typically ends up back in bed with his dad.

Anyway, this morning as I was cleaning out the dishwasher, I started thinking of some of my favorite kitchen items.

You may remember this post from a few weeks ago listing some of my favorite items for the kitchen. The above items made the cut this time.

1. Rub Away Bar - This is my second one. The first one got ground up in the disposal - thanks hubs. This little guy is not only a topic of conversation when people use my kitchen sink, but it actually works! It is designed to take all the gross smells from your hands. You know - the gross garlic and onion smells that STICK to your hands. Well, no more with this little bar. Just rub it as you would a bar of soap under water. Presto - smells are gone!

2. I just adore this letter pressed set. The original group that I ordered actually look better than the second set. The first set resembled an old typewriter type. Some letters were darker than others and other little imperfections in the lettering. The second set is still cute. It's just that the type is very dark and not old typewriter looking. The cup is HUGE and that I like. Sometimes I even eat my oatmeal from one!

3.Heritage Jars - great jars to use as canisters. I use one of the bigger ones for my cashew packs, KIND bars and other healthy goodies. This would be a great cookie jar.

4. Meyer Lemon - Smells great in this hand soap/lotion caddy. Smells even better with the real thing. I had my first Meyer Lemon a few weeks ago. I am a huge fan now. They are a bit sweeter than normal lemons. Be careful how many you buy though. They don't last long.

Enjoy your day!

Friday Fave - coffee

This weeks Friday Fave is my wonderful Tassimo single serve coffee maker.  This guy is like a member of my family. Honestly, I'm not sure what I ever did without him. I've had it for about two years now.  My husband doesn't drink coffee so it really doesn't make sense to make a full pot of coffee each time. Even the smaller pots went to waste because I only drink one cup at a time once a day.

People who know me, know that I am a huge Starbucks fan. I'd go all the time to get my single cup fix. All for $4.45 a pop - more or less depending where you live.  Now, my cup of coffee costs less than .80 a pop.  No brainer!  It tastes just the same to me especially when I use the Starbucks Breakfast Blend discs.
I typically prep it for work in my Kate Spade thermos and use one of my Crate and Barrel coffee cups.

Friday Faves - from my kitchen

Coffee mugs - Crate and Barrel, Tea Kettle - Chantal, TJ Maxx, Everyday Italian Book - Food Network

I have a few items that I absolutely adore in my kitchen. My most recent find has been my Chantal Tiffany Blue tea kettle. I found this at TJ Maxx after seeing a similar one on Young Married Chic's blog. I was in TJ Maxx one day not even thinking about the tea kettle. In the housewares section, I looked up and low and behold, there it was! I love it! It adds that POP to our Kona colored kitchen cabinets. And it makes me smile!

Coffeemate - Coconut Creme

I seriously can not tell you how much I love this Coconut Creme. I'm trying to be good and get healthy, but this is one of my little cheats. I've tried not to use too much, but once I get started - LOL.

My cup for Joe

CoffeeMug18ozF6
Anyone who knows me well knows that I have a thing for coffee mugs, cups, etc.  I've had all kinds. I say had because I donated quite a few when we moved last year. I kept some of my favorites - mostly from Starbucks. Last year, shortly before we moved, I was viewing a wedding photography website and found the perfect coffee mug for me. The mug was used as a prop in a couples engagement photo shoot. I had to have it, but where could I purchase it? I emailed the photographer - hoping that she would respond and really hoping she would know where the couple purchased the mug. She did and she did!  Guess where? Ok - times up. The bride to be purchased it from CRATE and BARREL.  So, I let my fingers do the walking and ordered up a set of four for our home. The mugs are HUGE.  The typewriter print of "coffee" on the mugs makes me smile. I used the first ones for display and cringed when someone reached to use one. I know, I know. Anyway, I then purchased more so we could actually drink and use them - LOL. They also have the matching creamer and sugar containers. I honestly could spend a few hours in Crate and Barrel.  C&B did not disappoint with these items.
