What's Happening in Indy ........ and a Great give away!

Looking to spruce up your look without purchasing a whole new wardrobe?  Nothing does the trick better than properly fitted under garments. Specifically, a properly fitted bra. I remember my first bra fitting at Nordy's. I had no idea I was wearing the wrong bra size! It made a world of difference in my appearance.  You should be fitted for your proper bra size professionally every 6-8 months. You should also be fitted professionally should you lose or gain weight. So, where can you get answers to all of your bra fitting questions? At the Under Construction event, of course!

You may be asking "What exactly is Under Construction"? Under Construction, is the first Imagecube Live event. With a conversational style in the beautiful SkyLine club in downtown Indianapolis, Sola Adelowo - of Imagecube  and Barbara Gilbert - of Barbara's New Beginnings will guide you toward a new level of knowledge and expertise about bras. As a result of this session you’ll be able to get clear answers to your undergarment questions, once and for all. What’s more, you’ll benefit from pricing perks and other exclusive benefits.

Bonus Time:  Sola has offered a pair of tickets ($50 value) to one lucky elements of my life  reader! All you need to do is leave a comment below and your email (so we may notify you if you are the winner). A winner will be drawn using Random Integer on Thursday, July 21st, 2011 and announced on Friday, July 22nd, 2011.

When you consider the power of presentation you know there’s more to getting dressed than simply putting on clothes. It was this instinctive awareness, combined with unique life experiences that led Sola Adelowo to launch ImageCube, LLC to help people harness the power of image.

Born in Dallas, Texas to Nigerian parents Sola was raised for much of her childhood in Nigeria while her parents received their undergraduate and graduate degrees in the U.S. Her cultural experiences included clothing that was most often handmade by a tailor. Through family connections such as her maternal grandmother, a fabric merchant and paternal grandparents who were active in the community Sola gained knowledge of how powerful image can be at an early age. Fine fabrics, talented tailors, and colorful, well-tailored clothing helped to shape her interest in the power of beautiful, purposeful, and personalized clothing.

With a BA in Sociology from Wellesley College, an MBA from Post University in the works, and more than a decade in the corporate world, Sola brings intuitive knowledge, a practical awareness of corporate culture, and proven research and theory to her ImageCube clients. She is a certified image consultant of the Association of Image Consultants International, a certified Myers-Brigg Personality Type Practitioner, and has been a featured fashion expert on the Fox 59 Morning News Show, WISH-TV’s Indy Style and The Indianapolis Recorder’s Recorder-On-Air-Report.

Sola lives her vision every day, volunteering for community non-profits Dress for Success of Indianapolis and Indianapolis Society of Human Resource Management. Furthermore, Sola is also the Executive Director & Co-Producer of the Midwest Fashion Week.

What's Happening in Indy ......

Reel Mosaic by Carbon Arc

For all of you International Film buffs, the event of the year is finally here. That's right - The Indianapolis International Film Festival. The Festival is being held at the IMA from July 14 - 24, 2011.  Here is a bit of information (from the website) for those of you who may be unfamiliar with the festival:

Since 2004, the Indy Film Fest has quickly grown into one of the Midwest’s fastest-growing and most-watched film festivals — and one of the most valued annual cultural events in the city. With attendance growing every year, we continue to deepen our impact on the city and the film community worldwide. Featuring the best in independent and innovative film from both award-winning professionals and emerging filmmakers, we’ve exhibited films from nearly every state in the country and more than 50 countries around the globe.

Opening and Closing events include a Photo Booth with their new sponsor - Smallbox. They'll be using the photo booths from Spinshot.  How fun is that?

One of the films that looks really good to me is Angela. This film is about childhood sweethearts who run into each other later in life  - he is now a teacher and she is now the young woman who begs in front of the school. Upon running into each other, she is ashamed and runs off. He is curious and begins shadowing her. This is a film from David Maye - Switzerland. The language is French with English subtitles.

What's Happening in Indy Wednesday ..

Why not hit a local Farmers Market this Saturday? There are many that are popping up all across the state with the weather getting warmer. If you haven't been to one, you should definitely go. Not only do they offer fresh produce, many  feature other local vendors as well. You can find wines, fresh florals, homemade jams, doggies treats, fresh baked goods etc.  I remember when the Wednesday Farmers Market just outside of the City Market from Spring to Summer. I really enjoyed walking to the market with my friend, Staci, and grabbing fresh flowers, produce and doggie treats every Wednesday.  The baked goods are too die for and rarely made it back to the office. The doggie bakery that makes the treats was superb!  These treats actually looked like something from a fancy bakery for humans. Funny story:  Once, I purchased a dozen of GORGEOUS doggie treats. I gave a few to some of my co-workers for their dogs. It was early afternoon and the treats needed to be refrigerated. So, one of my co-workers placed hers in a plastic bag in the office refrigerator. Guess what was missing when she returned to retrieve them at the end of the day? We don't know if someone took them or their dog or if they ate them themselves! I failed to mention we had a food thief in the office at that time. Can  I get a Bow wow?
Getting back on track, here are a few Indy area Farmers Markets this weekend:
