I'm not gonna lie, I start the process EARLY. My husband and i usually start planning our trips pretty far out. We both love it that way. It gives us time to really delve into a location and find out as much as we can.

I am a huge fan of the travel countdown apps for your phone.   There are a ton of free ones if you don't want to purchase one.   I usually go for the free ones because the  ads don't bother me. I just need to know how long before I go!

I am a huge fan of the travel wallet. They hold your boarding passes (if you still like to print your tickets) , passport, cash, credit cards, etc.  .  You can find them in all prices - from Louis Vuitton to Kate Spade and many even less expensive than that.  If you travel a lot, I would say it is worth the investment to get a nice one that will last.  I even use mine as a clutch in the evening as most will even fit a lipstick and small mirror.

On to the luggage tags - you can find some super cute ones at T J Maxx.  I just found some there for $2.99 - yes $2.99. They are bigger than most and the hot pink is sure to catch your attention.  Check out my Instagram page for a picture of those.  If you have a business card, I would use that instead of putting your home address on the tag. Safety, ya know?

Home Smells

I am always looking for ways to make our home smell wonderful.  I tend to lean towards the natural scents. So, whenever I find something natural on Pinterest, I am thrilled.

This wonderful DIY smell good comes from Morgan Moore of One More Moore Blog. The scent created below is the same one they use in some Williams Sonoma stores.
It just so happens that Morgan worked at Williams Sonoma.

Basically, you simmer the following on your stove top - make sure you refill the water every hour or so to prevent burning:

  • 2/3 water in a small pot
  • Rosemary Sprigs
  • One lemon sliced
  • 1-2 tsp of vanilla
These smells awesome as it fills your home!  Our home is very open and it still made it's way thru our home.

Going into the Closet

It was important for us to have large closet space in our Master Suite. We don't have children so it's easy for us to convert a small bedroom or study into a master closet. I was checking out Oprah's website the other day and one of the features was closet space. One of my favorites is Claire Chambers, owner of lingerie boutiques in Miami and New York named Journelle.  Her home closets are set up like a fancy retail store. She displays her pretty lingerie on the bars and the everyday wear is housed in her bureau.

The idea of displaying the things you love is one of my favorites. I love purses and have mine on display in my closet.  Not so much for others to see, but because I love seeing them.
Having a real organized  closet saves so much time in the morning when getting dressed. You don't have to spend time looking for that piece of clothing that is more than likely waiting to be washed in the laundry. I like to keep my items organized by color and type. Another great idea is to use matching hangers.  I use the soft kind that are advertised on those home shopping channels or infomercials. Except, I found mine at the General Dollar Store. I know - right? There were 10 or 12 in a batch for $5. You probably think they are flimsy. Trust me when I say they are the same as the other - just less expensive. I've never liked the wire hangers, but did have those equally awful plastic hangers. I switched them all out for the others. It makes a world of difference. Everything hangs nicely and the closet looks neat.
I'm still looking for the perfect small chandelier and ottoman for the closet.

Enjoy your day!
