I'm not gonna lie, I start the process EARLY. My husband and i usually start planning our trips pretty far out. We both love it that way. It gives us time to really delve into a location and find out as much as we can. 

I am a huge fan of the travel countdown apps for your phone.   There are a ton of free ones if you don't want to purchase one.   I usually go for the free ones because the  ads don't bother me. I just need to know how long before I go!

I am a huge fan of the travel wallet. They hold your boarding passes (if you still like to print your tickets) , passport, cash, credit cards, etc.  .  You can find them in all prices - from Louis Vuitton to Kate Spade and many even less expensive than that.  If you travel a lot, I would say it is worth the investment to get a nice one that will last.  I even use mine as a clutch in the evening as most will even fit a lipstick and small mirror.

On to the luggage tags - you can find some super cute ones at T J Maxx.  I just found some there for $2.99 - yes $2.99. They are bigger than most and the hot pink is sure to catch your attention.  Check out my Instagram page for a picture of those.  If you have a business card, I would use that instead of putting your home address on the tag. Safety, ya know?

I admit, in the past few years I have been wearing mostly black. Partly because I was feeling frumpy and black is supposed to make you appear to look thinner.

With my weight loss, I find myself wearing bright colors. Bright yellows, pinks and of course ORANGES!  When I eat healthier, I just feel good and the bright colors reflect that feeling.

Nordstrom posted this picture on their Facebook and Twitter pages and I just fell in love all over again with orange.

I'm planning to do a shopping spree for new Spring/Summer wear and some basics in a few weeks. Guess what is at the top of my list? You guessed it - orange items.

I also just realized that I am using orange accents in our family room. We have two built in bookcases on both sides of our fire place. My husband is finishing up working on them. Of course, I started buying the accessories for the shelves. I found some super cute accent items from TJ Maxx.

Gallery Wall

 A few months ago, I started a gallery wall in our family room. I say started, but it actually could stand alone without any other photos added. We have family and friend pictures from years ago and current ones. We've incorporated our entire family. We've also added some vinyl wording, though I like the look of  a few more single words going up and down (see example image).

 What is a gallery wall? Basically, it is a curated wall. A wall full of artwork, pictures, etc. The idea is to make it your own. There are templates out there to help if you have no idea how to lay your work out. Pottery Barn has a great one here that you can use. Be sure to read the entire article and then find the templates at the bottom of the page.  This is a great starting point and you can incorporate your our style.

  Apartment Therapy (the blog) also gives some fabulous step by step tips on creating a gallery wall.

    The photo above was my inspiration. Our frames are the same style with various sizes. I am going to add some texture by using some vintage frames painted in the same color. I am also planning to add some silver frames to the mix.

   It's a great conversation piece when family and friends come over. Everyone loves finding their old pictures or seeing what has changed. I plan to change the photos every so often just to keep it fresh.

Scarfs

 I've found that not only are scarves good for keeping your neck warm in the winter, they can be used for so much more.

For instance, you can use the larger ones as a cover up on a chilly plane.  I get pretty chilly on a plane and need something to cover up.

You can also use them as decor in your home. I love draping a beautiful large one over the back of a couch or chair.

Black Walls

  Growing up, we always had white walls. No colorful colors for us. My mom loved white walls and she loved CLEAN white walls. So, every twice a year (spring break and summer) my older sister and I had to "clean the walls".  WE were so tortured as children - LOL. Anyway, I swore I would have colored walls when I had my own home.  I like the look of white walls and love looking at photos of homes on blogs where the walls are white.  However, I'm not a fan of them in my home.

  We actually have a very neutral darker tan thorough our entire home.  At some point (don't tell hubby yet), I'll probably want to change up the color in at least one  room.  What do you guys think of black?  I think it looks classy and beautiful.  I'm not sure that  I  (my husband) is ready for black paint, but I may be able to convince him.........

I really like the idea of just painting one wall in black.
