My weekend

We had a pretty leisurely weekend. We both took off Friday because there was an ice storm coming. Neither of us felt like dealing with that mess.

Instead, I started painting our powder room. I chose Gypsy Leather - gorgeous brown color in High Gloss. After pictures to come soon.

Sunday - we took our niece and one of our nephews to church and then to Friday's for lunch. G has decided that is her favorite place to go. Mind you she says that about every restaurant we go to.

I weighed in today and have lost a total of 20 pounds!!! Yay, goal reached for the 6 weeks. I'm starting back up yo lose another 10 pounds. Gotta get slim y'all.

I ran into one of our local Feature reporters -Sherman Burdette- from Fox 59 at Meijer today. Super nice guy! I hate that I didn't ask for a photo!

Prepped our lunches (mine) and dinners(ours) for the week. I made angus steak on the indoor grill (froze these fir later this week when I can have 5oz. Lean beef), grilled chicken, a rice bean and chicken stew and guacamole for my hubby. I am exhausted!

Have a great week!

Shred - Week 3

As I write this, I am actually almost finished with week 3 of SHRED. I can not believe it. Almost halfway there.
This was a hard week - it was designed by Dr. Ian Smith to be that way. This is the week where you plateau (typically) on your weight loss. This week is designed to make you continue loosing the weight.

It was especially hard for me because I was travelling for work this week. I was able to pack snacks for the trip. I had to go to Trader Joe's for fruits, veggies  and my liquid meals. The team we were assisting had lunch catered in every day for us. Let me tell you, it was hard to resist some of the meals, but I DID IT!!!! I even managed to fit in a workout or two.

So far, I have lost - 13 pounds!!!!!!!   My pants are falling off of me. I was a little scared to go thru the TSA security check point when I had to take off my belt. Thankfully, my pants stayed on - lol.  Think it;s just about time for me to start shopping for new clothes.........................

The best part about this whole plan is that I feel GREAT! I have energy that I have not had in a long time. I'm loving it.

Great tip to rev up your morning:

Drink a glass of lemon water.  Just add half a lemon to 8 ounces of water (you can add sweetener if you like). Drink either hot or cold. Add a little cayenne pepper to kick it up even more.

It's a New Year.................

I'd like to wish each of you a very, very Happy New Year. I am not one to make New Year's resolutions. It just so happens that I decided NOW is the time to get in shape again.

I haven't really worked out since my sister had her stroke. I just didn't make the time for it and I wasn't eating right. Not a lot, just not right. I decided to hop on the scale one day last week and was HORRIFIED! The measurements were even worse. You know how you know you don't look like your old self? I'm not talking about the regular aging process. Well, that's how I feel. I think it's because my weight gain shows in my face. I also have been feeling sluggish and just not motivated.
I honestly think that has to do with the weight gain.

I decided it was time to do something about it. I recently started back at the gym. I am mixing up my routine a bit. I typically go in and get on the treadmill for an hour while hubby works out. Doing the same thing every workout just doesn't cut it.  so, now I have started incorporating weights and other strength exercises. Ken and I also do the medicine ball rotation. I can feel that in my arms. Hopefully, it will show in my arms one day. I also plan to join my sister in Zumba one of these days. I have NO rhythm - so, this could be interesting.

Another change I am making is in my diet. I was listening to the radio the other day and kept hearing about Dr. Ian Smith's SHRED diet. I purchased the nook version for my iPad. It has great meal plans and even better snacks. It also gives you specifics on exercise for each day.

His basic concept is Meal Spacing. You shouldn't wait so long between meals.  They aren't huge meals, but they look delish.  The plan lasts for 6 weeks. I am starting tomorrow. Say a prayer for me.
I'll also keep you posted on my progress.

My goal is to lose 20 pounds.

Also, since this is an element of my life, I will be posting fitness and healthy eating tips I find along the way. I hope you will share yours with me as well. Let me know if you are on a journey as well. We can encourage each other!
