Stylin' Saturday - Island Vibes

If you are anything like me, you buy a lot of souvenirs when you travel. I mean A LOT.

I always buy fun t-shirts or island specific items for my family when we travel. Of course, if I buy one for them then I must buy one for me - right?

My favorites are island shell rings, sterling silver rings with the Larimar stone (more on this later) , anything made of coconut.

The problem was that I would buy the items and I'd love and wear them during our vacation, but then they sat in my jewelry drawer until the next vacation. Do you do that?

Well, this year I have decided that I am going to wear my island goodies during the spring/summer months, too.

The gorgeous cross body bag featured will be adorable with white linen pants and a fun colorful top. Not only is it adorable, it's a great conversation piece. I purchased this from a local vendor in Antigua. I also purchased an absolutely gorgeous small clutch made from coconut shells.

I promised to tell you a little about the Larimar stone. The very first time I was in the Caribbean was on a RCCl cruise. There was a jewelry store on the ship that had the stone in rings, pendants, bracelets. It was simply beautiful. The color of the Caribbean ocean this stone is offered as a local Caribbean specialty. It's typically set in sterling silver, but she high grade pieces are often set in gold.

I purchased the piece in this picture while in Punta Cana a year ago. It's a huge stone, but was relatively inexpensive. I actually think this is my only piece of Larimar. I was always looking for the perfect setting - finally found it last year. You truly have to see the stone in person to appreciate the color.

What souvenirs to you busy when you go on vacation? Do you use them other than when on vacation?
I'd love to hear!

It's kind of hard to believe that earlier this week we had a large amount of snow fall here in the city.
This weekend is supposed to be very nice. Warm weather - yes!

Hopefully, Spring weather will stay around and we have seen the last of the snow - until next Winter.
The mornings and evenings in the spring can get kind of chilly and rainy. You know- April Showers........Bring May flowers.

I decided to do this post on Spring jackets. What's your favorite Spring jacket?
I have a Banana Republic trench coat that I adore. I also have this great orange tweedy jacket that I think has seen its last days. It had a good long 10 year run, but I think it's time to lay it to rest.

Speaking of Spring....In Indiana that means tornadoes and severe storms. Please have a plan for your family. Do you know where you will go should a storm strike? Be sure everyone in the family knows the plan before any storms strike. Better to be prepared. That includes your little furry friends.
Make sure they are safe.....

Stylin' Saturday - Accessories

I am a huge fan of big, giant, bold rings and bracelets. As much as I love them, it can be a challenge to wear them at work. The bangles tend to get in the way when I am using my keyboard. Yet, it doesn't stop me from wearing them. My desk is usually beautifully decorated with bracelets by the end of the day!

Seriously, who wouldn't want a hand full of rings like THESE?

Now on to the bangles:

Kate Spade has some great bangles. You can usually catch them on sale and many times they have some great ones thru the Sample Sales on line. You just need sign up for email updates. Also, if you live near a Kate Spade outlet, they have GREAT deals on multiples.

Stylin' Saturday

Labor Day has come and gone. Even though it is still hot and tropical here in Indy, the stores are in full Fall mode.
I wrote a post a few weeks ago about this Fall being inspired by the boys. You can read it here.

Let's chat about the other items that will be worn this Fall 2012 -

Statement Collars -

The blinged out collars adds to a more polished look for your outfit. The jeweled collars work best when paired with simple plain tops. You don't want to have too much going on - right?  You can find these from top designers as well as a number of Etsy sites.

Color Pop -

I love Fall - the crisp leaves and all of the great new sweaters (and old faves) you can wear.  However, I tend to get stuck in the black, brown world of clothing. This Fall we are seeing more color popping!  Sure, you can still wear your all black outfit from head to toe - just add a bold color.  I most often choose to add the color with a bright Kate Spade bag. This year, I am going to go outside of my box and add it a few different places. How about these bright colored shoes?

Bags -

You didn't think I'd finish this post without something to say about bags - did you?  If you have read my blog even for a few minutes, you will know that I am a bag FREAK.

Trend this Fall is for bags on the wild side. Check out my girl, Tory's, new collection.

Do you bundle up for comfort or do you throw caution to the wind and go for style?
What is your go-to outfit for the weekend?
I love these examples of weekend wear from Pinterest.

Stylin' Saturday....

I'm loving on Tory Burch fashion right now. I love the clean, sophisticated, fun, classic lines of Tory Burch fashions. My current go to bag is a Tory Burch bag. I am not kidding you when I tell you that this thing is like BUTTA. It is super soft. I've had it for a bit now and I still love it!  Head over to her website now, but plan to spend some time there. The blog is full of wonderful finds and information. My fave? Her City Guides. There are roughly 30 city guides spanning the world.

Stylin' Saturday - Home Edition

One of my go to design stores is West Elm. Again, I can't remember how I first found them - or did they find me? I think I received one of their catalogs in the mail. All I know is that some of my favorite pieces(owned and wish list) come from them. Since we don't have one here in Indy, I usually shop and browse on line or by catalog.

A few months ago, my husband and I visited the one in Chicago. Design Heaven! I actually saw what is now my office chandelier there. Below and above are pieces from their website. Oh, and Indy: Why not fill the soon to be vacant Nordstrom Circle Centre with a West Elm????

Stylin' Saturday

Photo credit: Cheetah is the New Black

Last Saturday morning - correction early last Saturday morning, I couldn't sleep. So, I decided to get up and go into my office and do some work. That work consisted of catching up on my blog reading. Being that it was so early, I don't really remember which blog I was reading when I came across Cheetah is the New

Photo credit: Cheetah is the New Black
Black blog. The blog is written by Alicia who happens to live in one of my favorite cities, San Francisco. She loves cheetah print - hence the blog name - and fashion,  vintage, great food and great photos.  She's also listed some things to do while in SF on her blog. Trust me, if you love fashion, you'll love this blog! I love the way she's wearing all of the cheetah print in the first picture. I never would have thought of that, but it works!  Once I finished reading her blog, I decided to check out some of her favorite blogs. That is when I found the Atlantic Pacific Blog written by BEE. She's also in San Francisco. Lovin' the Vintage LV bag!

I'm loving the layers on this outfit. anyone who has been to SF knows how chilly it can be. Layers are perfect. You can shed a few and add them to your bag as the day goes on.

I love these blogs because they show real people wearing real  clothes. Both blogs list the name of the designer or where they purchased the items from. What's super cool is that they typically have a mix of designer items AND items from H&M and Forever 21. You all know how I love a good bag and these ladies have some great ones.

What Fashion Blogs do you enjoy reading?
